Mrs Lee in serious condition
Lee Kuan Yew’s wife, Kwa Geok Choo, has suffered a second serious stroke.
THE wife of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew has been warded at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in a serious condition, said the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a statement issued last night.
Mrs Lee (picture), whose maiden name is Kwa Geok Choo, 87, suffered sudden weakness in her left side and slurring of speech at 12.20pm on Monday. … The haemorrhage stabilised after two days of close monitoring and treatment. Mrs Lee was transferred to the general ward on Wednesday. The PMO statement said she remained in serious condition but was able to recognise immediate family members.
Note how the news was delayed by four days before publication by the PM’s office, until her health was judged stable enough, and needless to say there were no press leaks before then. The statement referenced above is still not online.
Update: Sammyboy’s Alfresco Coffee Shop broke the news two days before the state media.

It shocked me how acidic and murderous words were directed against Lee Kuan Yew wrt his wife’s conditions.
Surely this is unbecoming for members of a civilized society much more for a developed country like Singapore.
Much good had been done by LKY through the support of his wife.
This much good had been done to the majority of Singapore, past and present.
There may be misgivings among a few minority. But should we not look at the big picture of how God has used this man for his generation, for his nation Singapore and for the world at large?
May God’s Love be revealed to the Lees in this life.
Very very sad news about Mrs Lee. I have alot of love, respect and admiration for Mr and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew especially for their tireless efforts coupled with great dedication and commitment in building and nurturing Singapore into a world recognised country. They are truly great honorable people.
