May I simply say what a comfort to find someone who genuinely
knows what they're talking about online. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. A lot more people ought to read this and understand this side of the story. It's surprising you aren't more popular because you definitely have the gift.

Doubt SAF will be used in the event of any disturbance when LKY passes away. Remember that SAF is a conscript force, something unusual in a developed, educated country, which means that there is a lot of stresses lying just beneath the surface between NSmen and their commanders. I doubt the government would be inclined to test just how far they can push the citizen-soldiers by ordering them into action against their fellow citizens - and in a nation as small as Singapore - their own friends and family.

Also, Singapore is not North Korea. It is an open country and cares quite a lot about how it is perceived internationally. I would envisage something like this:

* Prior to LKY's death (i.e. now, whilst he is alive) the ISD will subtly monitor known subversives and social media to ensure that preventative actions taken to actually prevent a disturbance form happening in the first place. This way any unfortunate scenes are avoided to begin with, which has long been a staple of the government policy.

* Buy off dissent through with money. Expect an avalanche of "sweetener" policies.

* Divert any residual or persistent hot emotions through two approaches. 1) For any specific grievance offer up a human sacrifice. Fire or charge in court some civil service or GLC executive and give the media free reign on him so the public can rip him to shreds and vent their anger on a single target, allowing life overall to carry on as normal.

* If *ALL* of the above fail (to be honest, this is pretty unlikely), then try and divert protest into a manageable activity by sacrificing a few MPs and hold by-elections. If things look really bad then ensure the PAP candidates don't stand a hope in hell, so the euphoria of opposition win will defuse any wider anger.

* If things do get out onto the street, then as far as possible then carry on with business as normal by legitimising it - i.e. giving free reign at Speakers Corner. Finally, and only finally do you have a public showdown in the streets between a *mass* protest and the police.

he is not in the pink of health - that's the hard truth he never talked about .

everyone around him is worried for their children's future in a divisive singapore but then again, they have accumulated enough wealth to 'run' from singapore any time now when lky kicks the bucket for good.

notice how lacklustre are the people around him?
