Lee Kuan on stage again.  CNA: The inaugural Business China Awards, recognising those who helped enhance Sino-Singapore relations, were given out on Monday evening.

The awards are organised by Business China, an agency launched in 2007 to strengthen economic and social engagements among businessmen.

Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew handed out the awards, which were co-presented by OCBC Bank.

The China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park got the Enterprise award, while entrepreneur Tao Shing Pee received the Excellence award.

Local songbird Stefanie Sun won the Young Achiever award, for individuals under 40 years old.

“I feel very honoured because to me, I’m an entertainer, and the nature of my job does seem a bit frivolous sometimes. But to be able to be recognised for that, I think it’s very kind of them,” said the singer.
